finally, 500(days) of summer had arrived in malaysia ! thank god, i'm been dying to watch this movie for months.
for those who are unaware about this, get your ass from that couch and start marching to the nearest cinema and watch it ! this indie rom-com directed brilliantly by marc webb staring joseph gordon-levitt and zooey deschanel went public officially in the sundance film festival 2009. it has been received excellent reviews by top critics; 'a clever, offbeat romantic comedy' - rotten tomatoes, 'the best romantic comedy since love actually' - film threat, 'A',' enchantingly original and romantic' - entertainment weekly and other great, positive responses from new york times', chicago sun-times and los angeles times.
i watched this adorable movie about seven hours ago with my coursemates, let me tell you something - this is by far the best rom-com i've ever seen in a very long time. it has a fresh, original approach on how we can view a man's perspective when he falls in love. i also absolutely love the chemistry between mr gordon-levitt and miss deschanel. joseph is sexy as hell, almost a heath ledger look-alike and zooey is quirky and funny. it was very sugary pop, if you know what i mean. oohh, the trip to IKEA - genius idea ! i like how the story flows according to the number of days - it wasn't a typical day 1 to day 500, there would be day 380, then reverse back to day 3 and move forward to day 450. it sounds ridiculous but it makes the movie much more unique in a good way. not to forget, the song playlist was great too - from the smiths to black lips and the temper trap; it fits the movie genre perfectly. i love ALL songs, I KNOW, and i'm not even an indie lover. the emotions and the mood of the song fits each scene like an unsolved puzzle - it end up pretty damn well. i'm so gonna buy the soundtrack when it comes.
500 (days) of summer is a perfect movie for dates - i'm watched it, feeling a bit miserable afterwards. i felt tom's character so well since .. well. it was exactly how i feel now and it sucks.
it's funny, it's romantic, it's original - go watch.
